Recipe for paleo Beef Burgers

Recipe for paleo Beef Burgers

Personally, the non-paleo food I miss most is a good Aussie burger. However, going paleo doesn’t mean you have to give up burgers; prepare your own delicious burger patties and serve them as ‘Burger in a Bowl‘! Recipe: Ingredients: I’ve created two different versions of these patties, based on whether you like your food spicy or mild. Naturally, I recommend the tasty version…   Tasty version: 1 kg of grass-fed beef mince 1 large onion, minced few gloves of garlic, minced 1/4 cup almond meal 2 eggs 1tbsp sweet paprika 1tsp cayenne pepper salt & pepper to taste Safe version: 1 kg of grass-fed beef mince 1 large onion, minced 1 glove of garlic, minced 1/4 cup almond meal 2 eggs 1/2 tbsp sweet paprika salt & pepper to taste   Instructions: Preheat oven to 150c. Cook onion and garlic in a pan until soft. Mix all ingredients – including onion and garlic – in a bowl. Form into inch thick patties. I used two egg rings stacked on top of each other to get all patties the same size and shape. Cook on a pan until brown on both sides. Transfer into the oven and cook for further 25 minutes.   Adapted from Nom Nom Paleo....

Even Grok had a sweet tooth. The best way to stop you from snacking on processed snacks loaded with sugar and other nasties, is to stock up on home-baked healthy alternatives! Peel & grate apples into a bowl. Process almonds and macadamia nuts into a rough crumble, add into the bowl. Add all remaining ingredients and mix well. Let cool off for 10 minutes and enjoy!   (*recipe adapted from this one)...

Refreshing morning Protein Smoothie recipe

A refreshing fruit smoothie with added protein is a great way to start a day when you don’t have time to cook a proper breakfast. Not only is this smoothie terribly yummy, it’s got enough protein to keep you going until lunch and is very quick and easy to prepare.   Recipe: Ingredients: 1/8 pineapple 1 passion fruit 1/4-1/2 cup coconut milk 1 dose of protein powder ice magnesium powder zinc powder   Instructions: Peel and chop pineapple into medium-sized chunks. Half passion fruit and coop into the blender. Add in coconut milk and blend. While blending, add supplements (in this case at least protein powder) and then add ice until desired consistency. Pour into a glass and enjoy!     Optional supplements: Protein powder It is important to begin your day with a substantial dose of protein. The best way to do this is to eat a healthy serving of last night’s roast meat, but managing to be that organised every day can be challenging. Also, some mornings there is simply not enough time to prepare a proper breakfast. On those mornings protein powders are an excellent back up, even though they are processed and therefore not strictly paleo. It is important to select a great quality protein powder that doesn’t contain unnecessary additives, sugars, colourants and other empty fillers. Also, many protein powders can cause a range of digestive problems, such as bloating, constipation and discomfort. Try to find a natural product that does not irritate your gut.   Magnesium Magnesium powder is a great addition to a morning smoothie, especially if you are prone to muscle...
