Another WOD survived

The man finally joined my CrossFit gym and began his induction sessions this morning!   Today’s WOD was a killer, but so much fun at the same time! The man began his induction sessions today, which seemed to go really well. He appeared very excited about continuing, which is fantastic! Also, I can’t wait for Wednesday morning when he’ll be too sore to get out of bed… and I can tease out girly squeals by poking certain strategic muscles. Minutes and minutes of entertainment, I tell you! Note to self: rope climbing is more likely to result in uncontrollable bursts of embarrassment and giggles. Also rope burns on shins. Which somehow seem to conjure up mental images far more exciting than the truth behind them… WOD 40-30-20-10 reps, for time of Wall balls (4kg) Kettle bell swings (10kg) Sit ups Time:...

After only three weeks of CrossFit my pants are falling off!

Fabulous for the bum, not so good for the wallet: must go shopping for a smaller pair of workout pants…   I figured this would be quite effective, because in all seriousness, this is bloody hard and most of the time I’m just doing weakling versions of the correct movements. Yet, somehow, my bum & thighs have gone down a size in just three weeks of three sessions/week! I’m amazed and grinning like an idiot. And in even better news, I have finally convinced my fiancee to join in! Starting from Monday, he’ll be doing his induction sessions… I can’t wait to see what he thinks and how badly he’ll get hooked… It will be fabulous to share this addiction and excitement with someone! WOD Three reps (12-9-6), for time of clean + jerks, 14kg dumbbells wriggle on hoops* Time: 11:13 (* the exercise in question should have been a muscle up, but there is no way in hell my pathetic wriggles had anything to do with the proper version of the...

Tanja does Jackie

Jackie is evil! Those thrusters were just ridiculously hard, even though I was doing them with just 15kg instead of the rd 20kg!   I’ve noticed that after every CrossFit session, I’m experiencing a combined sense of achievement and relief; achievement for being able to perform the WOD and relief that it didn’t kill me. I am amazed at how addictive this is. Every day after a morning session, I find myself giddy as a school girl, acting as if I was high as a kite on uppers. Slightly disconcerting, but at the same time utterly wonderful. The entire day, I feel like I’ve accomplished something great and every new muscle ache or tightness is like an additional nudge of reward. A confirmation of work done on my body. Can’t wait for the next session! Tanja does Jackie 1000 meter row 15 kg Thruster, 50 reps 30 pull-ups (jumping) Time:...

Survived my first real CrossFit workout!

Not only did I survive the workout – it felt pretty damn good! Now my legs won’t stop shaking so I might just sit down for a while…   The warmup contained pull-ups and push-ups, which were pretty pathetic – the day I can do a proper unassisted pull-up, I will pop open a bottle of bubbles, right there and then. I kid you not! Front squats themselves felt good, as did the core workout and stretching afterwards. Now treating myself to some Thai beef and spicy pork and veggies stirfry! Tanja does front squats Front squats, 1 rep of: 1 x 35kg 10 x 20kg 1 x 35kg 20 x 20kg 1 x 35kg 30 x...
