Homemade almond milk

 

Quick an easy recipe to make your own delicious homemade almond milk. Pour it on your fruit salad, add cacao powder or drink as such – this refreshing drink will surely be one of our favourites this summer!

 

Ingredients:

  • 250g almonds
  • 1l water
  • 2 pitted dates
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

 

Instructions:

Place ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend until creamy (about 30 seconds to one minute). Strain through a muslin or fine sieve and store the milk in the fridge. It will keep for about four days.

  1. Thanks for this recipe! The almond milk in stores always have some sort of sweetener like rice syrup etc.. Will be trying this out over the weekend :)

  2. Do you recommend soaking the almonds overnight first? I have been reading it helps to make them more digestible (should be done with all seeds and nuts). Also could the almond meal strained out be used for cooking e.g. in pancakes or something?

    • I can’t see how the soaking could be anything but a good thing! Personally, I’m a bit impatient and almond milk tends to be a bit of a rare treat. When I feel like it, I want to have it straight away and can’t wait for the almonds to soak overnight.

      Using the strained meal in cooking/baking is a brilliant idea!

    • Natural raw almonds, not roasted. You should be able to find them at your local stores easily.
